High Point Furniture Industries was founded in 1958 and remains a privately held, woman-owned business. The first products were novelty furniture items for the home (TV stands, record cabinets). High Point Furniture entered the office furniture market in 1963 with the introduction of the first budget-priced 100 Series wood desk. Up to that point, low-cost desks were made primarily of metal while wood desks were significantly more expensive solid wood components.
